“Like my brothers said. You can stay. Brynn’s family is our family.”
“Does that mean I’m one of the clan?”
Liam tilted his head at Lizzy. “Do you want to be? We can change you, too, if you want.”
Brynn hadn’t thought about that. She’d love it if her sister would stay, either as a human or as a werebear. “What do you say, Lizzy? Want to get your fur on like me?”
Lizzy’s expression was priceless. “You know what? I could see that. But for now, I’ve got things to tie up at home for Brynn and myself. Besides, if I changed, I’d want my own mates to go along with it.”
“You could stay and see if you can find them.” She looked to Liam, silently asking for confirmation. He shrugged, not giving her much confidence that it could happen.
“No thanks. I appreciate the offers, but I’m going to go back and take some time for myself.” Lizzy wrapped her arms around them, giving each man a hug. “Take care of her, will you? If you don’t, I’ll have to come back and lock you up in a cage.”
They’d gotten rid of the cage, calling the same company that had delivered it and telling them where Jadon had left the truck.
“Oh, hell. Is that all you Caraway women think about? Locking up some poor defenseless animal?”
Brynn gave Finn a playful punch on the end of his nose. “Defenseless, my ass.” She turned back to Lizzy, gave her a hug, then reluctantly let her go. “Call me once you get home.”
“Yes, Mom.” Lizzy slid behind the wheel. “Don’t worry, sis. Something tells me I’ll be seeing you soon. Love ya.”
“You’d better. Love you more.” She fought back the tears, standing back as Lizzy put the car into reverse, then wiggled her fingers in a good-bye wave as the car rumbled down the gravel road.
As soon as she was out of sight, the tears came. “I feel like I’m never going to see her again.”
Connor swept her into his arms from behind her, cuddling her back to his chest. “It’s not good-bye. Just see ya. She’ll come back.”
“There goes Mr. Sensitive again.” Finn ignored Connor’s growl, then took her hand, his rough one a comfort to her pain. “Besides, if she doesn’t come back on her own, I know five werebears who’d go and fetch her for you.”
“Oh, hell no. Jadon probably already thinks I’m more trouble than I’m worth.”
“Not a chance.” Liam scratched his chin. “He’d love it. He’s already having a great time telling everyone about me getting locked up. I’m never going to live it down.”
“And about you hitting me with your car,” added Finn.
“That’s the price you pay for finding your mate.” She squirmed away from them, then started toward the horses. “Come on. Teach me how to ride a horse.”
But Liam had a different idea. “Not a chance. I don’t want you smelling like horse.” He snagged her from behind, then lifted her off her feet. “Finn and Connor will take care of them, then join us in the bedroom.”
“Liam McGarrett, put me down. I’m not a sack of feed.” Yet, she wasn’t upset when he didn’t obey her. Especially when he took the steps with one leap and pushed open the front door. She pushed against his back, lifting her head to see Finn and Connor hurrying to get the horses back inside their stalls. Liam carried her to the big bedroom they all shared, then used his shoulder to open the door.
Happiness had overwhelmed her, but, impossibly, that joy skyrocketed when he set her on her feet and turned her around.
The room, furnished with hand-carved furniture, had been transformed into a paradise for lovers. Flowers of all different varieties were scattered all over the room in an explosion of blossoms. Petals dusted the floor and the bed, and strands of flowers hung from the antler light fixture overhead. The lights had been dimmed, leaving the fluttering of candlelight to provide a soft glow as the sun faded into the horizon.
“Do you like it?”
Knowing he’d take it the wrong way, she held back the tears. “Are you kidding me? I fuckin’ love it.”
“Damn, but our mate has a mouth on her.” Finn grinned as he and Connor entered the room. While he carried a six pack of her favorite wine coolers—she’d never cared much for any other alcoholic beverage—Connor presented her with a pink envelope.
“Connor picked out the card and the girly colored envelope. Leave it to Mr.—”
Finn’s last word came out as a garbled mess when Connor wrapped his hand around his throat. “Enough with the Mr. Sensitive shit. I may be sensitive, but I can still knock you on your ass, brother.”
“Okay, you two, cut it out.” Liam took her hand and led her to sit on the edge of the bed. Finn and a still-glowering Connor followed them.
She was stunned and brought to tears when all three of them knelt at her feet. “What’s going on, guys?”
“We were thinking the other day and realized that we’d screwed up again.”
Finn and Connor nodded, agreeing with their older brother.
“Please don’t tell me you’re hiding another secret.”
“Hell, woman, we wouldn’t dare,” quipped Finn.
“It’s this way, Brynn.” Liam reached into his back pocket and pulled out a small black box. “We should’ve done this the right way, but with everything that went down, it kind of got overlooked. Still, it shouldn’t have been.”
She slid her gaze from one man to the next. Liam, as usual, was serious, while Finn couldn’t keep back a smile and she would’ve sworn that Connor’s eyes glistened with unshed tears. “Is that what I think it is?”
“Will you give me time?” Liam opened the box and held it out to her. An oval diamond surrounded on each side by green emeralds sparkled against the black velvet background. “As the oldest, I’m going to ask for the three of us. Brynn Caraway, will you be our mate?”
They could’ve heard a pin drop in the absence of her answer. Liam’s confident expression died, Finn lost his smile, and Connor almost let his tears go.
“Babe, say something. Say yes.”
“Okay, I’ll say this. As far as I’m concerned, I’m already your mate. But I’ll wear your ring and soon I’ll ask you to change me. But first you have to promise me one thing.”
“Name it,” answered Liam.
She lifted her gaze to the chandelier of antlers hanging over her. “You have to promise to get rid of that ugly thing.”
Connor’s mouth fell open but his brothers were equally aghast. “Our antler light? But why? It’s so cool.”
“No, it’s not. It’s ugly and I’m tired of waking up and seeing it hanging over me.” She crossed her eyes and gave them a stern look even as she ached to hold out her left hand and let Liam slide the ring onto her finger. “It’s either the antlers or me. Take your pick.”
“Then the antlers go.” Liam took the ring out and slipped it where she’d wanted it to go.
“Now?” asked Connor.
Liam nodded again and stood, taking her along with him. “Now.”
“Now what?”
“This.”
Liam turned her to face the bed, then unzipped her dress. It fell to the floor at her feet, exposing her naked body. She’d learned early on that wearing underwear around the men was a waste of time and money. They hurriedly undressed, kicking off boots and letting their shirts fly.
Their hands skimmed over her, caressing her as their words caressed her heart. She closed her eyes, enjoying how the connection whipped into full force again. Helping her onto the bed, they came to her, one beside her and one between her legs.
“Let me taste you, babe.”
She giggled and joked. “But what about my wine coolers?”
“That’s for after,” answered Liam as he dipped over her and drew in a nipple.
“That and a cuddle.” Connor lifted up, his close fist ready to pound Finn’s face if he said anything, But Finn was too busy pushing her legs apart and diving in for a drink of his own.
Finn’s tongue was a miracle of seduction as he spread her for taste. She
was alive under his care, her pussy already throbbing as he teased it with both finger and tongue. When he clamped down on her clit, then thrust two fingers into her sheath, she cried out, but her cry was smothered by Connor’s passionate kiss.
The brothers who looked so much alike were different in the way they made love. Liam was just as serious, steadily working her body until it hummed under his masterful attention. Connor whispered terms of endearment that Finn didn’t dare laugh at. Finn, on the other hand, brought his way of fun to every lovemaking session.
She reached out to take Liam’s cock, but he pushed it aside. “Not tonight, baby. Tonight’s all for you. Just lie back and enjoy.”
“But what if I want to taste you?” She batted her eyelashes, tempting him to give in.
“You won’t get me that way. But don’t worry. Once I’m deep inside you, you won’t care.”
Liam and Connor bent their heads to her, kissing, fondling, pinching, nibbling. It was difficult not to send her hands flowing over their hard-packed muscles, but Liam was a man of his word. He took her hands and tugged her arms above her head.
“Keep them there.” He smiled as his green eyes flashed with lust.
“Four emeralds.” She inhaled and almost lost her train of thought as Finn flattened his tongue against her clit and showed her how easily he could command her body.
“Four instead of three? Is that what you’re asking?”
Connor took her chin, turning her head from Liam. “It was my idea so I’ll be the one to tell you. It’s one for each of us. Like our green eyes. The diamond is you.”
“And the fourth emerald?”
“Can’t you guess, sweet one? The fourth emerald is for all our future children.”
Finn let out a satisfied sigh. “For once, Mr. —” He paused at Connor’s growl. “For once, Connor came up with a good idea.”
“Brynn, be quiet and let us please you.”
She nodded, suddenly flooded with emotions that she could never express adequately. Instead, she lay back and let her men show her how much they loved her.
They did, turning her onto her side. With Connor at her nipples now, feasting as only a big man could, Liam prepared her for his entry. The opening of the lube came first, then the chill of the gel as he smoothed it around and into her tight dark hole.
They spoke to her, telling her how lucky they were to have her. She wanted to tell them that she was the lucky one, but each time she tried to speak, Connor or Liam would kiss away her words.
It wasn’t long before she couldn’t have gathered enough thought to string a coherent sentence together. She was lost in their love, forever caged in their hearts just as they were imprisoned in hers.
Finn feathered kisses along her leg, then got on his side to pull her leg over his. “I need you, babe, always. Remember that.” Pressing his cock to her pussy, he thrust his hips forward, entering her. At first, he moved slowly, leisurely, but his thrusts soon turned into slams as he picked up speed.
She gazed into his face, a face that held so many grins, and saw the intensity of his desire. Her own burst free to soar high and wild as her men-bears claimed her yet again.
Liam slapped her once on the butt, then twice before he eased his huge cock inside her anus. She inhaled, then remembered, as they’d often told her, to breathe and relax. Again and again, a little harder each time, he pushed his cock inside her.
She was filled from both sides, but it wasn’t enough. Catching Connor’s eye, she gave him a soft smile. “Give it to me, sweet one.”
He jerked back, surprised at her use of his nickname for her. “Don’t you go calling me names now.”
“Then do something to keep me quiet.”
He did then, offering his cock for her mouth. She drew him in, delighting in the flavor that was all Connor. Unable not to, she reached out, taking Liam behind neck as he closed his eyes and pounded into her ass. She cupped Connor’s balls, playing with them until she had him moaning. Then, clenching her pussy walls around Finn’s hard shaft, she taught him how to moan, too.
They rode each other, the noise of their lovemaking the only sound in the world. Sighs turned into moans and moans grew louder into growls of need. She lay between them, their queen and they, her kings.
Her heart pumped harder, threatening to break from her chest as she gasped for precious air. They were rough, yet tender. Demanding, yet giving. Responding to her every movement.
As though the connection that had brought them together had forged them as one, they came together, each of them crying out their releases. Their bodies, still joined, trembled, the after shudders wracking them, ridding them of their strength. Liam and Connor collapsed at her side while Finn laid his head on her leg.
Time meant nothing as long as they were together. Brynn, more content than she’d ever been, smiled as each man placed a hand on her belly.
“Do you think we made a baby?”
Liam kissed her on the cheek. “Maybe. But even if we didn’t, it’s okay.”
“What?” She stared at him, confused. “I thought you wanted a child.”
“I do. We do.” Liam smiled as Connor kissed her shoulder and Finn’s chuckle drifted up to her. “All I meant is that we don’t have to worry if there’s not one already inside you.”
“We don’t?”
“Nope.” He grinned then, the serious side of him gone for the moment. “All it means is that we have to keep trying.”
She was the one who grinned now as she tugged on his hair and swept her gaze to the other two men. “Then what are you waiting for? Get busy, guys.”
Epilogue
“She’s coming!” Brynn burst out of the house and dashed to the barn. As she’d expected, Liam and Connor were busy cleaning a couple of saddles while Finn had lost their latest bet and was paying by mucking out the stalls.
Liam looked up. Her heart skipped a beat as it always did. Connor set aside his rag, then tossed her a grin. Finn, who had his headset on and was listening to music, looked up, then waved. He leaned the shovel against the stall before joining his brothers.
“You finally talked her into it, huh?”
Liam reached out for her, but she sidestepped him. If one of them got a hold on her, she’d forget what she wanted to say and end up in the hay again. They’d had sex in various places around the ranch, wherever they could catch her, but one of their favorite places was in a pile of hay.
She’d tried weekly for the past three months to get Lizzy to come back for a visit. Her sister had taken control of everything in Lubbock, even seeing to turning in Brynn’s notice to her employer as well as moving her things out of her apartment and shipping them to the ranch. At first, Lizzy had rejected Brynn’s pleas for her to visit, but Brynn had kept on hounding her, realizing that her sister needed the distraction while getting over Bobby.
“Is she coming soon?”
She could almost hug herself. “Next week. I can’t wait.”
“Are you going to tell her that we changed you last week?”
“When the moment’s right. But she’ll want to see me in my bear form.” The transformation had been rough, but she’d come through it well enough. She practiced every night, getting more and more accustomed to the change as well as trying to speed up the process.
“What’s wrong with that? You’re beautiful as a bear.” Connor threw his saddle over the saddle horse and stalked toward her. The bulge in his jeans told her what he wanted.
She kept backing up, trying to stay away. “More beautiful than I am as a woman?” Changing in front of someone other than her men would make her nervous. But what better person to change for than her sister?
“Both ways are good. It’s like comparing apples to oranges.” His gaze flowed over her. Was he seeing her as she was right then? Or as she looked in her bear body? “Come to me, Brynn.”
“Let me talk first.” But how could she resist them for long? She’d tried several times before and hadn’t been able to hold out. W
hy should she? They were the men she loved and were as good in bed as they were in the saddle.
Better.
Finn edged to the side of the barn while Connor tried to keep her pre-occupied. Liam rose in a nonchalant manner. They didn’t fool her. They were forming a circle around her, like bears on the prowl for their prey. The game was one she enjoyed as much as they did.
“She’s staying with us, right?”
Liam knew the answer. He was doing his best, like his brothers, to catch her off-guard.
“Of course. But there is one thing she wants you to help her with.”
“What’s that, babe?” Finn picked up a bridle, pretended to fiddle with it, then put it down.
“She wants you to help her find a mate. Or mates, if that’s the case.”
That stopped them as she’d known it would. Finding a mate wasn’t a simple thing to do. But it was even harder when it was someone else’s mate.
“Brynn, I hope you didn’t promise her that she’d find them. She may not be destined to be anyone’s mate.”
As usual, Liam was the one to caution her. But she wouldn’t let him dampen her excitement. Even if Lizzy didn’t have intended mates, she’d still have a great time looking. “I know. But what harm does it do to try?”
“This sounds like an excuse to goof off and go shopping.”
Connor edged closer. All of them did. She smothered her smile at their attempts to be sneaky. “We might take a run down to Dallas. Or we might check out the little shops in Forever.”
“Bite your tongue, mate.”
She giggled at Finn’s horrified expression. “Oh, come on. Forever isn’t all that bad.”
“Nope, it’s not. As long as you don’t run into any of those damn werewolves.” Liam shook his body, casting off the awful thought.
“I thought you said some of the werewolves are nice people. Like that Milly person who runs the café.” She’d bait them, throwing them off their plan of attack.
“Some of them are okay.” Connor shrugged at Liam’s glare. “Like Jackson Carr and his brothers and a few others. But still, you wouldn’t want Lizzy marrying a couple of werewolves, would you?”
